The year of 2020 was like no other, especially with no fundraising events being held throughout the year. As you can imagine this has impacted the Festival especially when it comes to supporting those in need.
When the Covid Pandemic hit back in March, we were approached by a few local organisations to manage the Newmarket Covid-19 Fund which is managed by the Newmarket Covid Committee. Donations started coming in from local businesses and individuals wanting to support our local community. With different initiatives set up around the town, these donations enabled us to support delivering emergency food parcels, weekly hot meals delivered to the elderly and pupil premium children as well as local NHS and care workers, funding laptops for children that do not have facilities at home so they could continue their studies during lockdown and counselling sessions.
We are proud to have been able to support our community in this way and hope that in 2021 we can host our fundraising events again.
